An Ode to Elsie

dedicated to our old Land Cruiser
that took us twice around Aus with caravan in tow

What a great old car is Elsie
taking us here and there in hope
up the steepest hills and
down the longest slopey slopes
taking us to every distant town
down the busy streets
where the round abouts abound
cruising down the highways long
cars just go buzzing by
getting there always with a song
always waiting patiently alone
when we go to shops
and forget she is on her own
has suffered bumps and bruises
but still so very faithful
never letting us down on cruises
she has doubly earned her keep
so well and truly yes
she is now due a rejuvenated beep
